Death’s Avatar

Posted by Otto Robba in Concept Art on 30. Jul, 2009 | 1 Comment

As the last task in our drawing course, we had to create a character from scratch. Essentially, what character concept artists do for a living. My character is, in essence, an immortal soul bound into an immortal body, acting as a hunter and avatar of the goddess of death, Kali, by exterminating all those who disturb the natural flow of life and death. In essence, he attempts to restore balance in a world torn apart by corruption. Bones extrude from his wrists at his will, sharp enough to end most foes without armor and, should there be ‘resistance’, he can tap into the netherworld, traversing through the different places and effectively striking an enemies soul. I really wish I had used a better paper, this one is really not made for anything else but sketches. Oh well, lesson learned, no crappy paper next time.

For me, art is all about communication, finding and giving meaning when most would not see. To make people feel from words unspoken, to imagine entire worlds through simple literary passages.

My dream is to be able to, should I ever be so lucky, create a piece of work that lives far beyond myself.
