A Smooth Design for Smoothsofts

Presenting to you the home for the usenet software Smoothnews. Smoothnews is an app developed under Smoothsofts, aiming to provide users with a great platform with which to use usenet while remaining familiar to all mac users. I was tasked with building the website and the app icon.
The website had to, essentially, perform well and allow for feedback for mac users – thus, Internet Explorer was not a big concern, allowing me to go ahead with features only available to browsers commonly found on macs. You can click here to visit the current result or see the preview below.

The Icon needed to get across the idea that this is a system for exchange, to get and deliver information and data. While studying and sketching, I came across the idea of mocking up a global network icon inside a paperplane, aptly nicknamed paper jones by me and Manuel, the app developer. It had to prove useful even when at 16×16 or 1024×1024 and thus, two versions were made, one with the globe and another without.

The Red Ribbon

I was part of the team developing the new website for the Nepaids (Aids Education and Prevention Center). Tasked with finding a visual identity that fit, making it highly accessible and working with a huge library of assets, it was not easy reaching the goal but it has been met. It required developing within the mindset of an institution, presenting it with a different entry page as that of content. It had to work for both portuguese and english speaker/readers. A few parts are still being worked on, mostly regarding the upload of content and fine tuning a few things but it is pretty much finished. Big Blue Belts Out

Design made for shirt.woot. Original theme was ‘Blue’. From this I derived the classic picture of the singing whale, in this case, singing the blues 
Waiting for them to review it, takes up to two months. Figers crossed, I like this design and I’d love to see it printed by them
